Some observers who have commented on the Internet
suggest that the tigers must be drugged to maintain such
low levels of aggression in close proximity to so many unfamiliar humans.
Certainly, the animals appear most docile early in the afternoon session, and become more restless as the day wears on.

The Abbot and Temple staff deny the use of any drugs and maintain that the tigers' sluggish behaviour in the early afternoon, as well as their subsequent rise in activity, simply reflects natural resting patterns.

Whilst CWI Investigators found no evidence of drug use, such evidence could easily be concealed by a small number of staff with primary responsibility for managing the tigers.
